Meredith Metcalf is a fourth generation Southern Californian, the daughter of a wood finisher father and interior designer mother. Meredith has been making wheel-thrown, hi fire stoneware since the age of 16. Her work is a balance of skilled and primitive, loose and meticulous, modern with early. She throws stark simple forms that highlight her signature surface motifs. Meredith works out of her studio behind her house in Highland Park, Los Angeles, where she's lived since 2003. Meredith is also a founding member of two bands (Bodies of Water and Music go Music) and a mother of two boys and a girl.
